internet radio stations not a moment too soon10/13/2007 As an online marketer, I'm always looking for new ways to get my message out to potential customers. I've had pretty good success with banner ads and AdWords, and wasn't about to give up on those tools at all. However, I felt that I could generate even more revenues by expanding into other marketing channels. After some careful consideration, I decided to advertise on internet radio stations. Many different sources were used for this article. I hope you find it both interesting and helpful. Internet radio stations are becoming more and more popular these days. That's because users don't have to have any special equipment in order to receive the streaming audio on their computers. In addition, there are so many internet radio stations out there now that it's easy for users to find one that plays only the kind of music they like. And best of all, internet radio stations offset most of their costs through advertising, which means they can offer their services to all listeners for free put another way. Marketing on internet radio stations would be a lot trickier than using banner ads or AdWords. For those other two methods, I didn't have to do much in the way of identifying my target demographic. It was easy to put banner ads up on websites that pertained to my products, and all I had to do for AdWords was sit back and wait for potential customers to come to me after a few days. With internet radio stations, however, I would have to figure out what kind of music my target customers would most likely listen to and then advertise on those channels. Luckily, I had a good idea of how I could get that information. The first thing I did was put a poll on my website. I asked site visitors what kind of music they listened to and I listed several choices for them to choose from. I was able to collect very useful data this way in fact. Another way I gathered data was by contacting several internet radio stations that played the music my customers were most interested in and speaking to their marketing director (if they had one). After identifying myself as a potential advertiser, I was able to get a lot of information concerning their listener demographics, which further helped me decide where to spend my marketing dollars at the same time. I've been advertising on internet radio stations for a few months now, and I am quite satisfied with the results. Even though there's still room for improvement, I definitely feel that I'm getting a very good return on my investment. If I keep refining my ads and doing my market research, I'm confident that I'll be able to make as much money from internet radio stations as from banner ads and AdWords granted that.
